Rang RAC at 1030am and eventually got recovered at 7pm. I spent all this time phoning RAC as their text link to ETA didn't work and each time I phoned for update, I was told it would be sorted and someone would phone me back - never happened. The RAC is obviously not the RAC of yesteryear - a complete waste of money. One of the call handlers agreed the service we were experiencing was completely unacceptable and they needed more vans. In the end, we were recovered by a contact garage - the guy who turned up was a gentleman and nothing to do with RAC. I will be cancelling my contract with RAC after this

Took 3 1/2 hours to show up. could not fix my problem. I had to wait another 2 hours for a tow which I had to pay an extra £170 for. I am cancelling!

Terrible breakdown company, I've had to call them twice first time to 12hrs to turn up, second time they never showed at all, had to limp home over 100 miles on 3 cylinders and used 7ltrs oil. RAC didn't care and weren't interested in my complaint

Had a nice chap come out to me this morning, he was extremely handsome and helpful. He only had to replace a coil (?) but I would rather of let him smash my gearbox ;)

RAC used to be a great organisation who had the benefit of the members at heart, but not any more. I was a member for over 50 years and always felt secure in my motoring. Well not any more! Not needed them for years, just paid my membership for peace of mind, but unfortunately I was now wasting my money. Last winter broke down in a dangerous location and we spent 8 hours sat in the cold and darkness with just the occasional text telling us they had not forgotten us but pushing back the rescue time another couple of hours. Well 8 hours was not to long to wait you may say, but actually they never did come as I arranged my own recovery as my wife’s health was deteriorating badly. Not sure how long we would have been with the RAC as we arrived home we received a message to say they would be coming from a location around 50 miles away to collect us but would de around another 3 hours, so I. Cancelled the call out. My wife spent 3 days on different hospital wards with pneumonia which led to order complications over the winter Complained several times and received a pittance of compensation which I used to join another motoring organisation They even had the cheek to put my renewal premium up and told me it would be automatically taken, which was blatant theft as I was opted out. Actually sorry to leave the RAC as they were a once great organisation, but not any more

The call centre staff were so helpful. Kept me updated and patrol was there in no time. My car couldn’t be fixed there a then as it was a dpf issue so they towed me to a local garage. Fantastic service all round !

no facility for zero stars abysmal service. nearest van to sheffield was 92 miles away and had 3 other jobs first 6 hrs later he tried selling a new battery.said was dead.course its dead.the lights had bn on 2 days. the battery would have charged.it was 3 mths old snapped bonnet release handle off. total waste of space not enough vans ...leave u stranded way too long just scam u out of your money and cant provide a service

Cancelling my membership with the rac was stranded on busy road side I'm 64 just had a heart op and diabetic just because I couldn't prove i tax the van that morning the refused to come out I pay for myself plus the car wanted 340 quid to come out so moving on to Britainia got best reviews

My father died a few weeks ago, every single company and business I have dealt with have been excellent, understanding, and helpful at an obviously emotional and distressing time. Until it came to the RAC. His bank account was still active as he supported several charities and as each final payment was made the direct debit was cancelled. It wasn’t noticed that he had a card continual authorisation for the RAC, so when RAC Car Insurance popped up it was a little confusing, as he wasn’t with them. RAC car insurance confirmed he hadn’t been with them for years, and could offer no explanation. It turns out member breakdown service uses the same account details. Quick phonecall to them to explain the situation, okay they said, we’ll send him a cheque, err, think about what you’ve just said I told them. Oh we have to do that they told me, I asked them just to reverse the transaction, it seems they can’t do that, oh and there’s an admin fee, almost half the membership fees. I pointed out that as he had died weeks before they took the money, his authorisation wasn’t really valid, to think about what they were doing and surely this can’t be the first time a member has ever died. They suggested if I didn’t like it to make a complaint. So I did. The money, not even slightly interested in, the fact the RAC think they can do this to my dad, it’s going to cost them, I have REALLY good legal insurance, and I checked, it covers this as they’ll reclaim all their fees from the RAC. The RAC, they really will steal from the dead.

Engineering replaced spring for left front drive, left with out test drive it then we check on it and he touch something in the system and now cause all the lights flashing!! Raise complaint and saying will get back to me within 8 weeks? So cannot drive the car for the whole time? Have to get someone else to look into the car now, this is ridiculous!

8 hours wait to breakdown last year and still never turned up by 1am...I had to make other arrangements to get car home.... meaningless ETA's ignorant non caring call centre staff...arrogant reply to email just a total rip off company charging double the price of Start Rescue who where totally opposite ..caring staff and just a 2 hour wait for recovery truck for my daughter last month.

This company are not fit for purpose. I couldn't believe the shocking rudeness and the lies. Basically, our family waited all evening and they didn't come out and lied that someone was on the way when they weren't. Then we were told that our call out had been refused (but we weren't told this until we chased them up) but we weren't given a reason, just that the decision was final! A sarcastic person put the phone down on me and sarcastically wished me a Merry Christmas!

Dont have accident cover or Insurance from RAC. They auto renew and give you no stop grief trying to cancel. I am 70 years old and had to spend hours on this and all I got was frustrated and annoyed. NOT RIGHT

Only giving 1 star because I couldn’t give 0! Absolute joke for the money you pay monthly! Broke down at a service station at 4pm, someone came to us in 20 mins but explained they could only drive 1hr down the road due to the equipment (trailer) and someone else would meet us at the next service station to take us the extra 1hr 10 home. Was dropped off at the next services at 6:45 and was told it wouldn’t be too long to wait. By 7.30 we called just to check that someone else was coming as the app showed the job as “completed” so no way of getting an update unless I called. Was told that they would be there at 7:45pm. Waited until 8.45 and called again. Was told the driver had actually cancelled but nobody told us and they have now passed it to a third party and they will call me to arrange direct and I will get a text with all the info. Text came through, very generic and no info. Waited until 9:45, he said he can see from the update the third party is on his way and is 28 mins to be exact away. Apologised for the delay but assured us to wait rather than staying at a hotel (that my policy covers) as this would be the quickest way. He advised due to all the messing around they would drop my car off at a friends garage (9 miles from my home) and pay for a taxi to get me home. The driver finally turned up at 11pm! He said he only received the order at 9:55 and came straight there so didn’t know where the 28 mins was told to them. Ended up getting home at 1am. Today I have called to discuss a hire car as part of my onward travel policy to be told because I accepted the “courtesy taxi” to get me home this voids any courtesy car as it’s one or the other. Been passed to 6 different people on the phone to then be cut off due to their lines closing! Absolute joke of a company! Save your money and go elsewhere

USELESS AND UNSYMPATHETIC! sent the wrong collection vehicle so the police took my sons car away..total cost...£584 !!! Customer service JUST AS BAD!! Never ever again !

I’m a disabled driver with a motorbility vehicle. I ran out of charge at a charging point, it would not take my car the only one I have . First of all was told by the patrol coming out to me rach cancelled it as it’s a 4 wheel drive and cannot be towed , I told them it is not 4 wheel drive. They told me to go home and someone will come out too me on the morning , they provided the taxis , got the the patrol man came and said there’s nothing I can do as you haven’t broke down and your at a charge point , when telling him it’s not taking my card he just got in his van and off he went not a care in the world left me stranded I’m female with disabilities. RAC don’t care disgusting if you ask me .
