About Carphone Warehouse:

The Carphone Warehouse was founded in 1989 to bring mobile services to consumers. The market has always been complex and our aim from the very beginning has been to offer our customers simple, impartial advice while also offering outstanding value. As a result we have grown from a handful of stores operating exclusively in the UK selling mobile handsets and contracts, to a European-wide platform of over 1,500 stores in 10 countries, providing a wide range of mobile and residential telecoms services.

Beware, ID Mobile offer you a sim deal and then deny all knowledge of it. I purchased a sim when there was a double data deal but they denied all knowledge of it. They said they would investigate but no one ever got back to me. I tried to cancel my sim but of course they didn't do it and denied I ever cancelled it. They said they would go back and listen to the call and someone would call me back. Again no call back. I have called again today and they said they will cancel my sim but I won't hold my breath. They just keep taking my money for a sim that I don't want and haven't even used. They are cheaper than the large mobile providers for a reason, they are awful. Customer services are useless too. I am so please that I didn't sign up for a 12 month contract. Reading the review, it looks like no one has anything good to say about ID Mobile.

Absolutely diabolical! None of the staff know what they're doing.. All this store is ever interested in is sales! They definitely do not care for customer service. Seriously need to re-train all their staff if they are to continue for much longer! Cannot believe how much trouble they've put me through in order to just change the colour of a phone that was upgraded! Such sneaky staff-seriously didn't care unless I was to purchase something! Cannnnot believe they do not have a legitimate complaints team or escalations team to help! Staff on the phone don't know what to do if you need any help! Seriously AVOID car phone warehouse!!!! Not worth your time and effort!

Ordered a phone online, only to then receive an email saying there was an unknown issue. Called up Carphone Warehouse's customer services and spoke to Peter, he was so lovely! Very clear and patient when telling me the best deals, felt like all the advice he gave me was genuine, and with my best interests at heart. Sorted out my problem with no issue at all. Everything has been resolved and I got a better deal than I started with - very happy! Feel like sometimes we only review things when they are negative, so wanted to put in a positive word for Peter from the customer service team - you're doing a great job!!

bought a samsung note 7. When i turned up and tried to collect the phone in store from an online order, with proof of my card details, it took them almost 2 hours to release the phone to me. After they recalled the note 7, having make me come in multiple times and sending me away for, they sent me a bill for 500 quid for contract cancellation! What they tell you in store is different than what they tell you on the phone. Beware, if you go to a store, you will be waiting around for hours. If you call the helpline you will be waiting for hours. None of the staff seem to have any idea what any of their policies actually are so for an ultra-confusing waste of time, I would highly recommend.

I got a phone from there on contract via Vodafone I rushed into it and once I had the phone I shopped around and found well better deals! I phoned carphone warehouse they told me it was vodaphones policy and it was not aloud to cancel I then phoned vodaphones and they told me I could cancel within 30 days! I went to store turns out you are not aloud to cancel at all! Couldn't be less helpful if they tried! So I now have a contract for 24 months that I don't want never again will I go here!!

Beware the sparkly website and sparky ‘deals’ I purchased an S7 with 6 gigs of Vodafone data on Black Friday. I received 1 gig, confirmed by a letter from Vodafone for 1 gig. I paid a deposit, and am well into my THIRD payment of my non-existent contract. (No it is not in my spam filter) No contract to confirm what I purchased No confirmation email to confirm my website purchase (Google this phenomena) Apparently there was a ‘technical’ hitch with the website…you have been advised Questionable customer service, both instore and telephone. Do not display any kind of exasperation instore because you have effectively been ripped off. It’s just not the done thing. The store cannot contact their own customer service! I had to phone instore and pass the phone to the sales assistant. Despair. Phoned Vodafone customer service. They sent me to a Vodafone store to have the data added. They did not want to know: ‘they are always sending customers to us, we do not know why’. Followed by 'You need to go to Carphone warehouse'. An out of control purchase. Despair. Despair.

Mis-selling of contract. Their sales team in West field store sold me a contract saying for 12 month and never gave me a contract paper ever after several requests at point of sale, said it will be emailed. After 12 months wanted to cancel, informed its 24 months contract. Never received any contract paper and placed it on dispute. No one responded to the query for 6 months and still now never received a contract paper and been sent around from department to department. Customer services could not provide any paper works till today and even being under dispute a notice of default has been issued in my name which messed up my credit rating. Tried contacting their store manager named (SAT) who is extremely rude, started blaming me for their mistakes saying its by responsibility to chase them for a contract paper and its not their responsibility. Requested to speak to their Regional manager and got threatened by store manager to escorted out of the store by security saying I was being aggressive. Called their customer services and was on phone for 3 hours but still no resolution to this case. Now passed case to Financial Ombudsmen Services and waiting for the outcome. Once my case is uphelp will take carphone warehouse to court.

I was sent a text as my contract was ending to ring for a deal. I rang them and they offered my the phone I wanted for the price I wanted to pay and it would be delivered the next day today (31.12.16). I got confirmation that the phone would be delivered between 12.30 and 1.30 so I have been waiting half the day for it. I then got a text that the phone could not be delivered as I was not in. I phoned the delivery company and they said they couldn't find the address even though they had the post code by Carphone Warehouse hadn't given them the full address. I have phoned them three times as the delivery company won't delivery the phone again until Carphone Warehouse confirms the address to them. I have been told now by Carphone Warehouse that I have to go in store on Tuesday and confirm my address with them. I have been a customer with them for many years, they have already taken money out of my account but I still have no idea when I will get the phone. Never use them again.

So I went in with an issue with my phone, that I may add was purchased from the same store, and although the shop was nearly empty no one could seem to be bothered with asking if I needed any help, two were chatting with each other, and another assistant seemed more interested with improving her eyelashes than helping me, when I actually got round to asking for help, everyone just seemed to want to sell me a new phone, I mean it was at least all of 14 months old, so I left and went somewhere else, who sold me a new battery, fitted it for me, problem solved. I'm glad to say I don't treat my customers in such a disinterested way, and I will definitely not be buying a new phone from the carphone warehouse again, and may I add nor will anyone else that I know.

I purchased a sim free Samsung for my wife. After six months the phone developed a fault. I returned it to the shop and they said it had to be sent to "Geek Squad". When it was returned the body of the phone had been broken, there being a finger nail sized piece of it missing. After much discussion they agreed that it had not been like it when they sent it for repair so the repair team would replace it. They would call me within 5 working days. After 7 working days I had had no call so I called them. I was told that it was waiting for me to collect it in store. I went to get it but, after some time, the assistant told me that it wasn't in store but was still on the way. Two days later I called again and was assured that it was now in store for collection. Went in to be told that they "couldn't find it". Admitted that it had been signed for in store but tried to blame "the Christmas rush" for losing it. Was assured that the issue would be resolved within 72 hours. Today I went again to be told that no investigation had been started and that they need another 72 hours to sort it out. I heard the "manager" telling the assistant who was serving me that "Chris" had signed for it on the 20th (the day before I last went in to collect it) I asked why they couldn't just ask Chris where he had put it, whereupon the told me that there was nobody by the name of Chris in the store. They clearly think that their customers are both stupid and of no value. DO NOT SHOP AT CARPHONE WAREHOUSE IF YOU VALUE YOUR TIME OR YOUR SANITY

What went wrong, everything. I ordered a phone and my bank turned down the payment as it was "outside my normal spending pattern" The Bank told me to re-order and payment would be passed. I did this and also phoned Carphone Warehouse to tell them what had happened. As a result the initial transaction was processed a second time and went through, I got two phones. I returned one to the local store. They messed up the refund but failed to tell me. Nearly a month later the refund has not been processed. Every person I speak to tells me something different. They claim to have emailed the store 3 times and tried to phone them twice but claim the store wont respond. I phoned the store and got straight through. Store says only one email which was immediately replied to. Store claims the system has a problem that won't let them process the refund. Customer services says there is no problem. All I know is they owe me £200 and I want it back asap. I shall never deal with this bunch of Cowboys again.

Dreadful service, only interested if they can sell to you,my wife purchased a phone from Samsung Carphone Warehouse store in Newcastle who told us that if we have any questions we are able to call into the Darlington store,I have been in twice and was served by the Manager who had absolutely no enthusiasm or interest in helping me,I went home and googled solutions. This week my wife's phone screen went all fuzzy and was not visible, then later on same day a very feint internal crack appeared (we googled and a.number of people say they have had this issue caused by overheating),my wife called into the Darlington store and asked for help and explained issue,a man looked at it very briefly and asked if she had insurance,my wife said we hadn't taken cover, she was told immediately that there was nothing he could do. My wife then explained that she had taken phone out of handbag the day before to answer call, she put in handbag after taking call and then when removed from handbag 30 mins later screen was fuzzy, then she explained about findings on internet(ref overheating)staff at the store insinuated that she had dropped the phone, there were 3 staff sat staring and sat on stools making her feel extremely uncomfortable, she came home extremely upset describing staff as obnoxious, rude and unhelpful. Please stay away from this store, there must be others who give good customer service and care.

I started a contract for a Samsung Galaxy S7, the lady who served us on the day was very helpful, polite and informative, however, at the end of the sale, when talking about covering the product, told us that if anything went wrong with the phone, could be taken back and replaced on the day within 30 days of purchase. Once I unboxed the phone, I placed the simcard into the sim/memory card tray as instructed, however the simcard slipped out the of the tray as I pushed the tray into the slot on the phone and as a result, the simcard got stuck in the slot on the phone. The next day I took the phone into the store that I started the contract with; once I entered the store I spoke to the lady who served me and she fetched a man from the "Geek Squad" as he had more "technical knowledge" than her. Upon meeting the man, he gave off a very toxic attitude straight away, instead of simply greeting us he instead told us to go over to his desk, without a smile, introduction, greeting or without simple eye contact. He then looked at the slot on the phone, and proceded to stick a METAL pin/paperclip into the slot/internal area of the whole (when I told my work colleagues this earlier, they simply called him a ******* idiot). He then gave us a piece of paper and told us to go to Samsung to fix the problem... keep in mind that this is ONE DAY after the contract was started. I didn't take a name of the colleague, however he was serving at the Meadowhall Carphone Warehouse store on the 16th December 2016 at roughly 11:00 AM (in the "Geek Squad" department of the store, although the gentleman seemed to have the technical knowledge of the caveman, instead of a geek). Simply put, if you make so much as a simple human error, even on the first day of purchase, they will treat you poorly and not give you the result as promised.

BE WARNED. not sure if that kind of customer service is part of CARPHONE WAREHOUSE training but at least one employee will LIE STRAIGHT TO YOUR FACE if they damage your property and hang you out to dry. when getting my phone back after a repair which was perfectly i noticed that the gorilla screen cover was replaced with a thin flimsy foil which had more bubble than a glass of coke. as i was not warned about possible damage to that employee reluctantly offered to "order a new protector" and he would phone when it was ready for collection. that was over to weeks ago. i also phoned customer helpline and complained about the dishonest behavior. they where sorry put me on hold and after i was waiting 10 minutes the call disconnected. so thanks for nothing. NEVER EVER USE CARPHONE WAREHOUSE AS IT WILL TREAT YOU WITH CONTENT

I was out of my old contract and 'upgraded' my phone in store - new phone and tariff but same provider. I realised within the hour that the phone spec wasn't what I wanted - the new phone was 16gb instead of 64gb. I hadn't opened the box or sim card and thought it would be simple to return the phone and get what I wanted. I was happy to pay extra for this. My mistake! Policy says no and there is absolutely no discretion. Once they have your money customer services is irrelevant. 2 areas for immediate staff training which would have meant I am not stuck with a 2 year contract for a product that doesn't meet my requirements: 1. Go through the spec at point of sale to confirm the buyer is getting what they want (this didn't happen although the 'manager' says it does). 2. Don't pretend that people read the 4 pages of terms and conditions at point of sale and just say that there is no cooling off period for upgrades. Finally, how a customer complaint is managed often says a lot about how customers are valued. Carphone warehouse clearly doesn't care about its customers beyond getting their money. This is not a way to run a sustainable business. I wont be going back and would warn others to beware this company.
