They are refusing my family a refund for a cottage we booked through them, and by no fault by us they have cancelled our holiday and will not issue refunds, very disappointed customer.

Told me that if i took our their insurance even before any chat of lockdown that it would not count - i have now seen evidence from towergate telling customers to send in their claim- shocking behaviour for company to blatantly lie to you. Profiteering at its best. How can someone trust a company that lies to you like this which i even have proof to back up. Plus they have inflated prices for you to rebook with them .... disgusting. Puts me off even travelling within the uk now! Trip and what should have been a nice week away is truely ruined as it had just put me right off as i associate the place with Sykes now !!

Avoid this greedy, cowardly pathetic company if you can apart from trying to get any money back for holidays you’ve paid for while they refuse refunds as an option. They are beneath contempt- look at Trustpilot to see how they are trying to save their skins by engineering 5 star reviews - having monitored for a few days I can recognise individual styles of writing so within presumably genuine reviews could there be fakes. Don’t bother complaining to Trustpilot- there is equity held in both Sykes and Trustpilot by Vitruvian who couldn’t care less about people only profit and working out how to screw even more money out of people even in the current global crisis. We booked a holiday cottage for mid April in Cornwall and of course cannot go there. Sykes Cottages have not offered a refund only rebooking which involves them holding onto money for up to two years. If they or any holiday cottage owner fold in that time that money is lost. Also they are not offering to pay back any difference to those who chose to rebook if the future dates mean a lower charge which tells you all you need to know about the level of greed in Sykes with a complete lack of care for their customers particularly those in the NHS, vulnerable people and others affected by the Coronavirus tragedy - you disgusting bastards.

Due to the coronavirus outbreak we have had to cut short our holiday dated Saturday 21 to Saturday 28 March and returned home on the Tuesday morning. We would never have gone but were completely unable to get through to Sykes prior to leaving home for the holiday as all methods of contact were either totally blocked up or simply not working. The result has been that we spent our time on holiday feeling guilty that we really should not have been there, and also waiting to be told by the government that we had to go home. It is time that Sykes did the decent thing and refunded people for the holidays they could not have. You have treated so many loyal customers so badly Sykes. Unfortunately, we have another holiday booked through Sykes in July, but after that we will certainly never be using you again, and will be strongly advising others to avoid you as well.

I feel as though they have stolen from me as they took my money knowing that I couldn’t go due to travel restrictions. Monies are not being passed on to cottage owners so make of that as you will. Why isn’t zero stars an option? If it was, these rip off merchants would probably have the lowest rating on the site.

Could not go on planned holiday because of covid 19 situation, emailed company received a standard email back which didn’t answer my question. Company not contactable in any way. The balance of £600 was due next weekend and I couldn’t afford for Sykes to take the money for a holiday I was now going on next year as my husband has no work due to the situation. And so, having paid £54 deposit I cancelled the holiday, but Sykes are going to take an additional £208 deposit as I paid at the time when they were offering low deposits. I will never use this company again, shameful to make money out of this horrible situation we are all in

Very disappointed that Sykes have chosen to do the wrong thing. I will NEVER book with them again which is sad because we've had some lovely family holidays before. Family from USA cannot come, we're in lockdown I'm at risk but front line staff so cannot travel. Please SYKES if you read the review, do the right thing. You'll keep customers. The owner of the accommodation cannot believe you're not refunding. The money will help my son who has lost his job.

Booked last minute visit to Cornwall 15 March and paid in full. By Friday 20 (we were due to travel 21 March) government announced travel restrictions, even tourist authorities advised against visiting. Responsibly decided not to go. Sykes showed ZERO sympathy saying no refund. Sykes even stopped taking bookings for period we would have been away. No other response from Sykes or cottage owners. Don’t know who has got our £2000 for doing nothing. Sykes seemingly making profit out of Covid -19 misery.

I booked our holiday beginning of February and paid the £20 deposit they asked for paid on my debit card the balance due April 25th the holiday was for one week from the 6th June an affordable price for us £317 We are both in our seventies my husband a diabetic so to cancel is sensible as well as thinking about the Welsh situation they are clearly concerned about holiday makers I asked if I could amend to next year however that particular cottage is not being rented next year and I did not want to consider another option I was told I would lose the £20 but this morning I received my statement and they taken have £110 I think they should be brought to justice on this it is the worst kind of exploitation making money through no fault of the public I have managed through contacting the local Welsh council to contact the owner Sykes only give you contact numbers when fully paid I asked him if he had any clout with them and maybe make a complaint he asked me how much they took he also added that he understood welsh bookings were to be stopped owing to corona virus I sympathise to all who have this problem with Sykes I am unsure if anything can be done but I intend to find out Maybe if you all contact the local councils where you were holidaying they may put you in touch with the owners enough people making a mass complaint could help I wish you all well Mrs Marshall the balance was due on the 25th April on I was told that I would lose the £20 which I felt

Booked 6 cottages over May-June for planned holiday from Australia. Forced cancellations on line to prevent automatic debits for balances. Deposits forfeited. Who has these deposits? Sykes or cottage owners? Future planning not realistic in current climate, so rebooking not an option. No refund offered. I hope there are some clever legal people among the dudded customers who can bring these rogues to account.

Shocked by this company’s lack of integrity. Due to travel restrictions I cannot go on my holiday. Sykes want me either to re book for next year, however they have hiked the prices massively or they want me to cancel and get no refund whatsoever. They do not answer the phones and their email responses are just a template sent out. What a morally corrupt company and awful customer service.

I can't believe the audacity of this company. It is unbelievable, morally corrupt and legally indefensible. The balance of a holiday I have booked for mid May is due today. Fortunately the card I used expired on the 31st March and therefore they can't take any further money but they have tried. Despite the fact that they have not replied to my emails they have sent a request for me to update my card details. Do they think I am a complete idiot to paraphase con me once shame on them, con me twice shame on me. Their complete lack of communication will come back to bite them. I will not accept a credit as I don't believe they will be trading for much longer. No sane person could possibly trust them again.

If I could give this company zero stars then I would do. Same boat as everybody else regarding the COVID-19 epidemic. Forced with 24 hours notice to pick another date for our holiday to the lakes. Every date is £350 more expensive on top of the £761 already paid. They tell me I cannot cancel unless I wish to forfeit the money already paid and must pay the difference. I am simply not happy to do so. What an absolute sham of a company. I will be contacting the travel insurance first followed by the FCA/Ombudsman if they do not provide me with a satisfactory response. On another note my wedding has had to be rescheduled ( different companies entirely) due to the epidemic and ALL parties have done this F.O.C. Sykes are quite simply using customers to keep their business afloat/ use this situation as a means to rip people off, they ought to be ashamed.

DO NOT TOUCH - IMMORAL PROFITEERING COMPANY! I paid Sykes £1200+ for two separate stays. Both were rightly cancelled but only at the last moment as they expected you to travel despite recommendations not to, and only cancelled when the lock in was enforced. Both holiday cottage owners want to reimburse the amount in full. Sykes have dishonestly appropriated the monies, refused to refund the monies and insisted on a credit to the account. One stay was for my 60th birthday, the second when I visited elderly parents, paid for at the beginning of the COVID troubles so I would not have to stay with them. The reason for the stays cannot be repeated, but the prices for future stays at the same properties have increased by £300 for the large house.. I paid for a service which has not been received. An immoral company, compounded by making false entries on Trust pilot. DO NOT TOUCH SYKES.

I would like to add my frustration with the way this so called professional company has managed my holiday to the Lake District. My holiday was paid for in full last September for a holiday at the end of April this year . They are advising me that I can rebook between now and June . Well If I could rebook I may have considered it but lets be honest do SYKES think that they are able to overule the Government rulings of Stay At Home in this Pandemic., We are being advised that this is likely to be with us until at least the end of June - restricted travel so where do they think we can go. I am going to reach out now to the Travel Ombusman as Sykes are not replying to any emails i currently am sending. I would never consider booking with this company again

The global COVID-19 pandemic means no one is allowed to travel. The 'policy' from Sykes Cottages is you are 'allowed' to rebook but not cancel (even though I took travel insurance out with them after their qualifying date). Rebooking for 2021 costs more than double. Utterly disgraceful. The phone lines are not taking calls for the past fortnight, their contact us link on the web page does not work, I have emailed four times with NO response; time to name and shame and contact Trading Standards. You should be ashamed of yourselves Sykes Cottages.
